Ducati will have 2 models for the 2009 Multistrada. The models will be Multistrada 1100 and 1100S. Ducati Multistrada model was first introduced by Ducati in 2003. Essentially the bike is a hybrid of a supermoto and a sport touring bike.
The Ducati Multistrada is most special in it’s class. It’s because of much lighter, more responsive and has better handling manners than most of the bikes in the same genre such as the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 and KTM Adventure due to many of the Ducati’s race-track components such as the Brembo Brakes and extremely light 17 wheels. In 2007 Triumph released the 1050cc Tiger, which has become the only bike to directly compete with the Multistrada.
2009 Multistrada compare to 2008 model is essentially unchanged. But for 2009 the S model was available in Pearl White with a “racing grey” frame. Both the S and the standard model are both available in red and black. 2009 is expected to be the final year the Ducati Multistrada will be produced. It’s rumored that Ducati will redesign for 2010.
2009 Ducati Multistrada 1100
Multistrada 1100 has the fully adjustable suspension with the features upside-down 43mm Showa forks adjustable in compression and rebound damping as well as spring preload. The Sachs rear monoshock is equipped with a practical hydraulic remote control to adjust spring preload, which operates through Ducati’s rising rate linkages.
The Multistrada is equipped with an exceptional braking system: at the front wheel, two 320mm semi-floating discs with two 4-piston Brembo calipers, while rear Wheel is served by an single 245mm disc with a Brembo 2-piston caliper.
Engine and Power
2009 Multistrada is equipped with the renowned Desmodue air-cooled twin-cylinder, 1078cc, dual spark. With wet clutch which provides a lighter lever action, is quieter than a dry clutch, and characterised by having exceptional wear-resistance. This engine offers a power output of 95hp at 7750rpm and 10,5kgm (76lb-ft) of torque at 4750rpm. Contributing to the bike’s rideability and powerful mid-range, this modern air-cooled engine highlights the sporting character of the Multistrada 1100. The engine has Euro 3 standards.
2009 Ducati Strada 1100S
Multistrada 1100S essentiallu is the 1100 but with “S” addition. S refer to “superb”, “superbike”, “sport″and or “suspenssion”. There are many of components derived from the Ducati Superbikes.
Ducati superbike component including fully-adjustable Öhlins suspension and carbon fibre components. The 1100 S features a number of racing components including a front fender and cam belt covers in carbon fibre, as well as tapered alloy handlebars which are fitted with vibration isolating mounts. The prestigious Öhlins suspension, derived from the Ducati Superbikes, deliver superior road handling as well as an exclusive quality finish.
The Multistrada 1100 S earns its ‘S’ status by adding sophisticated suspension and a sporting set-up to an already high performance motorcycle. It provides true Superbike performance and is capable of lightning-quick cornering and extreme riding precision.
At the front, 43mm Öhlins forks with low friction TiN fork sliders, fully adjustable and complemented by a fully adjustable Öhlins rear shock with remote preload adjuster for Superbike-class road holding.
