Moto Guzzi’s 1600cc bike to compete with Harley-Davidson

Moto Guzzi is planning to build big bore engine (1600cc) to compete with Harley-Davidson. According to MCN that the bike specifically will be compete with Harley’s 1584cc big twins. It will carry the historic ‘California’ name.

Moto Guzzi’s Head of Communications, Daniele Torresan confirmed that the decision to make the big bore machine considering the Moto Guzzis American importer has asked the Piaggio Group to consider making a big cruiser for their market.

According to Daniele Torresan the current largest capacity Moto Guzzi has is four-valve head close to 1400cc. This engine capacity would not be enough to compete with Harley Davidson so that the Italian company considering to producing a simple two-valve head design, which can be 1600cc. The bike’s prototype may be debuted at the Milan show later this year.

“I have seen some of the sketches and it’s a typical cruiser style, a bit like the Yamaha Midnight Star, but obviously typically a Moto Guzzi.” He added.
