With the new proprietor of its products (Acer), Gateway has established its objective in that it is determined to sell at cheaper prices laptops that are from the same range offered by other big names in the field. The Gateway NV5807u, with its 15.6” widescreen and 4GB of memory, has a $600 street-price that compared to the other products of Dell, HP, and Toshiba is indeed much cheaper, but unfortunately doesn’t provide options for customization. Even so, for the components it consists of, it is still recommended to be acquired instead of other items if one considers the restricted budget.

The design of Gateway NV5807u is made in a glossy plastic with the colors infused with artwork, a design technique known as in-mold decoration and present also in other laptop’s designs on the market, but it is somehow different in that it displays a small metallic piece on the cover, this aspect of thinness and addition of aluminum metals tending to be a trend in nowadays laptops. The PCMark Vantage set to measure overall performance of a device showed a score that also tops up the ones in Gateway NV5807u’s class. The graphics are however low for this device and considering that there are no configuration options, it is one point minus in regard to the 3D graphics cards.
Running the battery test, the power lasted for 3 hours and 17 minutes and it is almost the same for 1545 and dv6t models. If you are somehow on the budget with your expenses, Gateway NV5807u proves to be you best deal for your desk installed in your home until you will afford to acquire a better device.
